Here are two ways in which having an automatic garage door could make your life easier.
It could allow you to lock the garage whilst you're inside your house on rainy or snowy days
Automatic doors for garages can be particularly useful in areas where it snows or rains a lot. For example, if your local area has a wet climate, and you forget to lock your garage door after exiting the garage and returning to your house on a day when it happens to be raining or snowing heavily, you won't need to bundle up in a big coat or find an umbrella, put your shoes back on and make a run for the garage, whilst being pelted by torrential rain or getting snowed on. Instead, you can just open a window or door of your house that faces the garage, point your remote towards it and close it from your comfortable and sheltered position.
Furthermore, if you have family members (such as, for example, your teenage children), who don't always behave very responsibly and who, in this situation, would be tempted to just leave the garage door unlocked, rather than go outside and face the rain or snow in order to close it, then having an automatic door that they can control from within the house during this type of weather could reduce the chances of them deliberately leaving the garage unsecured. This, in turn, would not only ensure that the garage doesn't get damp on these rainy or snowy days but would also mean that anything valuable inside of it stays safe.
You wouldn't have to worry about your children or less physically strong elderly relatives getting hurt by the door
Another way in which having an automatic garage door could make your life easier is that it could prevent your children or physically weaker older relatives from getting injured by the garage door. Garage doors are usually heavy and can be difficult and potentially hazardous for small or physically weak people to open, as there is a chance that, for example, their muscles could get strained whilst they're trying to push up a roller door or swing open a tilt-up door.
As such, if you have children or elderly relatives who need to use the garage regularly, then having a door that they can open without having to handle it would mean that they could utilise the garage without any risk of straining their muscles. This, in turn, might mean that you could safely allow your children to operate the door unsupervised and would mean your elderly relatives would not need to risk hurting themselves if they need to get into the garage when there's no one stronger around to open the door for them.

Welcome all. I am a builder by trade and I specialise in home renovations. The garage seems to be one of the most popular rooms for renovation as people seek to incorporate new uses such as a billiards room or party area. I reorganise storage space and brighten the walls and floors. Of course, all this costs thousands of dollars, yet many clients insist on keeping their old garage door. I find this very frustrating because the right door can change the whole appearance of a home and provide so much more functionality for the garage space. After speaking to clients, I realise that many people just don't know the options available. Whether you are renovating or building a new home, my blog may be able to help you choose a garage door that makes a statement and suits your needs. I hope you like browsing these pages. Thank you.
